Freestyle
We annually attend the National Student Rodeo in Nottingham. This legendary student freestyle extravaganza allows to do anything you’ve ever wanted to in/with a boat and a chance to win some amazing prizes.
​In 2011 Jonny and James won the Duo final and in 2014 Andre and Jon won prizes.
Canoe Slalom

The aim of Canoe slalom is to work your way down a white water section moving downstream and upstream through gates. There are penalties for missing or hitting gates and the aim is to get the fastest time possible.

Every year we compete at BUCS slalom held in Teeside and it’s always a fantastic weekend and a chance to check out some superb paddling.
Canoe Polo
We compete every year in BUCS and SUS competitions which are always fantastic events. We also compete in the Scottish national league.

White Water Racing

BUCS White Water Racing is the first event of the season and is held in late November at the Washburn, North Yorkshire.

Many of our paddlers are beginners, which goes to show what grit, determination and malt loaf can achieve when combined.
Blues and Colours

These are awards that the university gives out to athletes from all clubs to recognise sporting success. The criteria for Canoe Club are as follows:
A Full Blue shall be awarded to someone who has placed in the top 3, or top 10%, in respective class, whichever is harder for any BUCS event and participated in 75% of all official University matches and regularly attended training.
A Half Blue shall be awarded to someone who has placed in the top 10, or top 25%, whichever is harder, in respective class for any BUCS events and participated in 75% of all official University matches and regularly attended training. The following members have received a half blue:
